Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 at Lynn Massachusetts. The actress is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. Her father, a carnival barker, died when she was a small little girl. This forced her mother to support the family by being waitress or cleaning lady. Ruth was born in a poor neighborhood of Boston Massachusetts where she attended school. She only attended school for a couple of years, then taking a break to pursue her acting profession. There were many hurdles to overcome on her chosen career path. Then, in New York she was hired to pose for photos in a crime magazine, but no theatrical opportunities were offered. Then, after a stint as a club hat girl after which she decided to come back home to the United States and quit her position. In the New England Repertory Company was her first gig as an actor who was steady. The company paid her doing shifts during the day, working as an Usherette. She was a drama student at the Bishop-Lee Theatre School and graduated.
